With extensive experience making films for non-profits & purpose-led commercial organisations, Benjamin produces sought-after, compelling videos. He has honed his craft across art school, media school, and a film & television department. In the 15 years or so since embarking on this journey, Benjamin has gone on to make films that communicates impact, tell evocative stories, and get selected for awards.
Benjamin's training, professional experience & artistic insight gives him a unique ability to create compelling documentary video work.
Working in-house at renowned international institutions (2020-24 New York Botanical Garden, Midlands Arts Centre, IKON Gallery) he led on video production, crafting strategy & delivering films including short social-media series' & substantial subject portraits.
He now works to brief on commissions and freelance projects, reach out to him for a conversation on future collaborations.
Working closely with institutions and collaborators, Benjamin’s intuitive and thoughtful films have been shown in festivals, exhibitions and online.
‘From the End of the Road’ – his graduation film from a part-time Master of Arts Degree, earnt him a high distinction and screened in film festivals and galleries.
As part of his undergraduate Fine Art degree, he was trained in Directing, Cinematography and Documentary Photography at Marmara University, Istanbul.
Documentary
Benjamin makes personal films at the intersection of moving-image, narrative and non-fiction cinema.
He explores the boundaries of documentary to create work that delves into the murky nature of identity and place, attempting to understand why things came to be the way they are.
Public Screening
His films have been shown internationally in both gallery and cinema contexts, including: Maison de l’Art et de la Communication, France; Flatpack Festival, UK; New Art Gallery Walsall, UK; Midlands Arts Centre, UK, and Turner Contemporary, UK; where his films were displayed for the prestigious Platform Graduate Award.
Location
Benjamin is based in Kent, UK, also working out of London and Birmingham. His work takes him far and wide across the country, travelling for the right jobs. He returned recently in December 2024 from a period living and working in New York City.
